What a Funny Thing Having a Body

Hard-Drive sculpture, 500 flash drives of 128mb each, LED sign 0.8 x 0.2 x 0.7 metern, 2023

This work consists of a stack of 500 flash drives functioning as a sculpture in the gallery. Visitors are invited to take a unit home and continue (or start) viewing the work on their computers: a maze of 300 folders containing images, GIFs, videos, links, and text files.

Each unit holds 128 MB of memory, small storage with vast potential. Beside the sculpture, I placed an LED sign inviting viewers to take a unit. I attached beads with the phrases  “TAKE ME” or “I’M YOURS” to each drive. I was intrigued by creating a work that continues outside the gallery and disperses its body among viewers, functioning as a benevolent virus.

I wanted to create a poetic wandering through the corridors of my computer and my thoughts.
